vaginal lubricant

A fluid, usually a water-soluble ointment or cream, used to reduce vaginal dryness or sexual friction. As a lubricant, petroleum jelly is of little or no value. Estrogen-containing vaginal creams reduce friction-associated discomfort related to postmenopausal atrophy. A natural and effective lubricant is human saliva.
