(also Sangi), a group of islands in Indonesia, northeast of the island of Celebes between the Molucca and Celebes seas. Area, 800 sq km. The relief is primarily mountainous, with elevations to 1,784 m; there are active volcanoes. The islands have tropical forests. Plantation crops include coconut and nutmeg. There is commercial fishing.
