Location:On the northeast coast of Massachusetts, 35 miles north of Boston, nearthe City of Newburyport in Parker River Wildlife Refuge (about 6 milesfrom the entrance of the refuge).

Activities:Fishing, birding, walking, beachcombing, hunting (with restrictions).
Special Features:Reservation is at the southern tip of Plum Island, a classic AtlanticOcean barrier island, with access through the adjacent ParkerRiver National Wildlife Refuge (see entry in national wildlife refugessection). Sandy Point is an important nesting area for the endangeredpiping plover as well for the least tern, which is a species of specialconcern in Massachusetts.
