Virus Diarrhea-Mucosal Disease
Virus Diarrhea-Mucosal Disease
in animals, an acute infectious disease of cattle; its viral nature was established in 1946 by the American scientist P. Olafson. In the 1960’s, the disease was reported in many countries (including the USSR), where it caused extensive economic damage. Sick animals are the source of virus diarrhea. The latent period is two to 13 days. The main symptoms are ulcerative lesions of the mucosa of the digestive tract. No specific treatment is as yet available. Diseased animals are destroyed.
