Unemployed Labor Force

Unemployed Labor Force

The portion of the population able and willing to work that is not working. Members of the unemployed labor force may have been terminated for cause or they may have been laid off because of circumstances beyond their control. The unemployed labor force may collect some benefits from the government while they look for jobs. Because unemployed persons have less money to spend than they otherwise would, a large unemployed labor force is detrimental to economic growth.
