Ubinskoe

 

a lake with no outlet in Western Siberia, in the Bar-aba Steppe, in Novosibirsk Oblast, RSFSR. Lake Ubinskoe has an area of 440 sq km and prevailing depths of about 3 m; the maximum depth is 4 m. There are five islands in the lake. The lake bottom consists of clayey sand and silt. In the spring of some years the lake overflows; the excess water flows down the Ubinka River to the Om’ River, a tributary of the Irtysh. The lake, which is overgrown with reeds and sedge along the shores, abounds in fish, including pike, ide, perch, and Siberian roach.
