Philippson, Alfred
Born Jan. 1, 1864, in Bonn; died there Mar. 28, 1953. German geographer; student of F. Richthofen.
Philippson was educated at the universities of Bonn and Leipzig. He was a professor at the universities in Bern (1904–06), Halle (1906–11), and Bonn (1911–29). He was the author of works on general physical geography and of area studies on Europe, particularly the Mediterranean.
