AKAP11 AKAP11 A gene on chromosome 13q14.11 that encodes a member of the structurally diverse A-kinase anchor protein (AKAP) family, which binds to the regulatory subunits (RI/RII) of protein kinase A (PKA), confining PKA to discrete locations within the cell based on different targeting motifs. AKAP11 is highly expressed throughout spermatogenesis and binds the RI and RII subunits of PKA in the testis; it may play a role in cell cycle control of both somatic cells and germ cells in addition to its presumed role in spermatogenesis and sperm function. |
