Psekups

 

a river in Krasnodar Krai, RSFSR; a left tributary of the Kuban’ River. The Psekups is 146 km long and drains an area of 1,430 sq km. It originates on the northern slopes of the Greater Caucasus. The lower course flows across a plain and is embanked. The river is fed predominantly by rain. There are occasional freshets. The mean flow rate is approximately 20 cu m per sec, with a maximum rate of approximately 1,000 cu m per sec. The Psekups is icebound for only about 20 days of the year. Timber is floated on the river. The city and resort of Goriachii Kliuch is located in the river valley.
