Susitna
a river in Alaska. The Susitna is 500 km long and drains an area of 46,500 sq km. It rises in the eastern part of the Alaska Range and empties into Cook Inlet of the Pacific Ocean. It is fed by rain, snow, and glacial water. High water occurs from May through September. The mean flow rate is 670 cu m per sec. The river is navigable for 150 km from the mouth. The Alaska Railroad, from Seward to Fairbanks, passes through the valley of the Susitna.
