Size: 3,579 acres.
Established: Proclaimed on November 30, 1915; transferred from Forest Service on August 10, 1933.
Location:10 miles east of downtown Flagstaff, Arizona. From I-40, take Exit 204 to entrance road.
Facilities:Picnic area, rest rooms (é), visitor center, museum/exhibit, self-guided tour/trail. Entrance fee required.
Activities:Hiking, guided walks.
Special Features:These cliff dwellings were built in shallow caves under ledges of limestone by the Sinagua People more than 700 years ago. Though the Sinagua were the canyon's only permanent residents, artifacts found here indicate that they were preceded by Archaic peoples who traveled throughout the Southwest thousands of years ago.
