Relining
Relining
a method of fabricating the barrels of artillery guns that makes it possible to replace a wornout liner (thin steel pipe with rifling that forms the bore of a gun barrel) under field conditions and at fire positions, thereby increasing the survival capability of a gun. In 1874, at the suggestion of A. A. Kolokol’tsov, Russian plants were the first in the world to use relining. The term “relining” also means to replace the liner in the barrels of artillery guns.
