[tī′tā·nē·əm trī′klȯr‚īd] (inorganic chemistry) TiCl3 Toxic, dark-violet, deliquescent crystals soluble in alcohol and some amines, decomposes in water with heat evolution, decomposes above 440°C; used as a reducing agent, chemical intermediate, polymerization catalyst, and laundry stripping agent. Also known as titanous chloride.
