Susanino

(before 1938, Molvitino), an urban-type settlement, the administrative center of Susanino Raion, Kostroma Oblast, RSFSR. Susanino is situated on the Shacha River (a tributary of the Kostroma), 40 km south of the Bui railroad junction and 62 km northeast of Kostroma. The settlement has a hat factory, a poultry-packing plant, a butter-and-cheese factory, and a flax-spinning plant. A branch of the Kostroma Historical-Architectural Museum-Preserve is located in Susanino. The settlement was renamed after I. Susanin.
