Tavkveri

 

a variety of wine grape with a ripening period of medium duration. It is used to produce table, fortified, and dessert wines, as well as juice. The berry is of medium size (14 mm in diameter), round, and dark blue; the skin is coarse, and the flesh is juicy, with a pleasant aroma. The yield is high (24–30 tons per hectare) but irregular. The Tavkveri grape is grown in the Azerbaijan SSR, in Middle Asia, and, to some extent, in the Georgian SSR.
