Uba Range
Uba Range
a mountain range in the western Altai Mountains, in the Kazakh SSR. The Uba Range is approximately 120 km long. Elevations vary from 600–700 m in the west to 1,500–1,800 m in the east. The highest elevation is 1,962 m, at Mount Siniukha. The Uba Range is composed of schists, limestones, and granites. The lower part of the slopes in the western half of the range have steppe vegetation on mountain chernozems. Firspruce taiga predominates in the east, alternating with secondary forests of aspen and birch.
