Truzzi

 

a family of circus performers of Italian origin. Maximiliano Truzzi (1833–99) was a circus entrepreneur and performer who came to Russia in 1880. His sons Rudolfo (1860–1936), Gi-getto (1865–1925), and Enrico (1870–1939) were circus performers and entrepreneurs.

The best-known member of the Truzzi family in the Soviet period was Gigetto’s son Vil’iams Trutstsi (1889–1931), an equestrian and animal tamer who also presented such pantomimes as The Black Pirate and The Makhno Movement. He was artistic director of the Moscow Circus from 1921 to 1924 and director of the Leningrad Circus in 1924–25.
