The river is fed by mixed sources, but predominantly by snow. The mean flow rate 8 km from the mouth is 149 cu m per sec. The river freezes over in November or early December, and the ice breaks up in late April or early May. The city of Mezhdurechensk is located near the mouth of the Usa. Coal is mined in the Usa River basin.
Usa a river in the Komi ASSR, a right tributary of the Pechora River. The Usa is 565 km long and drains an area of 93,600 sq km. The river is formed by the confluence of the Bol’shaia Usa and the Malaia Usa rivers, which originate on the slopes of the Polar Urals. It flows primarily along a marshy lowland and crosses the Chernyshev Ridge. It is fed by snow and rain.
