a river in Kemerovo Oblast, RSFSR; a right tributary of the Tom’ River of the Ob’ River basin. The Usa is 179 km long and drains an area of 3,610 sq km. It originates in the Kuznetskii Alatau. The river is fed by mixed sources, but predominantly by snow. The mean flow rate 8 km from the mouth is 149 cu m per sec. The river freezes over in November or early December, and the ice breaks up in late April or early May. The city of Mezhdurechensk is located near the mouth of the Usa. Coal is mined in the Usa River basin.

a river in the Komi ASSR, a right tributary of the Pechora River. The Usa is 565 km long and drains an area of 93,600 sq km. The river is formed by the confluence of the Bol’shaia Usa and the Malaia Usa rivers, which originate on the slopes of the Polar Urals. It flows primarily along a marshy lowland and crosses the Chernyshev Ridge. It is fed by snow and rain. High water occurs from May until September in the upper course and until August in the lower course. The mean flow rate is 1,310 cu m per sec (1,070 cu m per sec 91 km from the mouth). The maximum flow rate is 21,500 cu m per sec in June, and the minimum is 43.9 cu m per sec in April. The river freezes over in October or the first half of November, and the ice breaks up in May or June. The Usa is navigable for 325 km from its mouth. Landings on the river include Abez’, Petrun’, Makarikha, and Ust’-Usa. Coal deposits associated with the Pechora Coal Basin are located in the basin of the Usa River.

It originates in the Volga Upland, flows south parallel to the Volga, and empties into Usa Bay of the Kuibyshev Reservoir. The mean flow rate 23 km from the mouth is 16.1 cu m per sec. The maximum flow rate is 1,250 cu m per sec, and the minimum is 0.6 cu m per sec. The river is navigable in its lower course during high water. The Usa is part of the Zhiguli Krugosvetka tourist water route.
