Reisinger, Hugo

(1856–1914) businessman, art collector; born in Wiesbaden, Germany. He graduated from the high school in Wiesbaden and became a sales manager for the Siemens Glass works in Dresden. After his second sales trip to America, (1882, 1884), he settled in New York City as an importer and exporter. As he grew in wealth, he collected contemporary German and American paintings to further cultural relations between the two countries. His collection formed the core of Harvard University's Busch-Reisinger Museum.
