Surovikino

a city (since 1966) and administrative center of Surovikino Raion, Volgograd Oblast, RSFSR. Situated at the point where the Chir River empties into the Tsimliansk Reservoir. Railroad station on the Volgograd-Likhaia line, 145 km west of Volgograd. Population, 16,200 (1975). Surovikino has a dairy-products cannery, a meat-and-poultry packing plant, a fruit-and-vegetable cannery, and a plant manufacturing rein-forced-concrete products.
