Truscott, Lucien King, Jr.

(1895–1965) soldier; born in Chatfield, Texas. He taught school for several years before receiving a commission in 1917 and rose through the grades to command U.S. assault forces in the invasion of southern France in August 1944. He led the Fifth Army from December 1944 until the end of the war.
