a city (a settlement until 1967) and administrative center of Chaun Raion, Chukchi National Okrug, Magadan Oblast, RSFSR. A port on Chaun Bay of the East Siberian Sea, on the Northern Sea Route, Pevek has enterprises for machinery repair and the manufacture of building materials.
