Sharma, Ram Sharan

 

Born Sept. 1,1920. Indian historian. One of the founders of the Marxist school in Indian historical science.

Sharma’s main works are on the socioeconomic history of antiquity and the early Middle Ages. He was head of the department of history at the University of Patna from 1953 to 1973. In 1973, Sharma became head of the department of history at the University of Delhi and chairman of the Indian Council of Historical Research.
