Petr Fedorovich Antipin

Antipin, Petr Fedorovich

 

Born Dec. 13 (25), 1890, in Kashin, Tver’ Province; died Oct. 30, 1960, in Leningrad. Soviet metallurgist, corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1939). Graduated from the Petro-grad Electrotechnical Institute in 1921.

Antipin’s basic work was in the metallurgy of aluminum and in the electrochemistry of molten substances. He directed the development of the Dnieper (1929–32) and Ural (1932–36) aluminum factories.
