Vitásek, František

 

Born Jan. 7, 1890, in Velká Bystřice. Czechoslovak physical geographer and geomorphologist. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of Czechoslovakia.

Vitásek is a doctor of geographical sciences. In 1925 he became a professor at the University of Brno. He is also an honorary doctor at the University of Olomouc. In 1964 he became an honorary member of the Geographical Society of the USSR. Vitásek’s principal works are on the theory of physical geography and geomorphology, on regional physical geography, and on local regional studies.
