Tractive Power

the power developed by a vehicle on a towbar; the product of tractive force and the average speed of the vehicle. Tractive power depends on the power of the engine, the efficiency of the transmission, and the type of propulsion device. The maximum tractive power, which is one of the main performance indexes, is usually limited by the adhesion weight of the vehicle.
