Azerbaijan Pipe-Rolling Mill
(in Russian, Lenin Azerbaijan pipe-rolling mill), an enterprise of ferrous metallurgy in the USSR. It is located in Sumgait, Azerbaijan SSR. It produces an assortment of seamless steel oil pipes for cracking, for construction, and for general purposes. The Azerbaijan pipe-rolling mill has the following shops: an open hearth shop (put in operation in 1953); a rolling shop with an “850” blooming mill and a “700” tube-rounds mill (1957); a pipe-rolling mill with a “140” automatic pipe-rolling tool and “250” automatic pipe-rolling mills (1952); a shop for the upsetting of ends of pipes to produce casing, pump, and compressor pipes with upset (thickened) ends and drilling pipes with welded connecting ends (1963). The Azerbaijan pipe-rolling mill is the chief supplier of drilling pipes with welded connecting ends that are used in drilling deep petroleum and gas wells. It also supplies casing, pump, and compressor pipes to the oil-extracting and gas industry of Transcaucasia and Central Asia.
