Web: www.byways.org/browse/byways/13831/ Description:Deriving its name from the rich coal mining history of the area, the Energy Loop begins and ends at the eastern and western valleys below the Wasatch Plateau, traversing a variety of landscapes along the way. Areas of interest include: the Skyline Mine in Eccles Canyon, which extracts five million tons of coal per year; Helper's Western Mining and Railroad Museum; and the Cleveland-Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry, site of the densest concentration of Jurassic dinosaurbones ever found.
Legth: 86 miles. Start/Endpoint: Byway runs from Fairview, east on UT 31 to its junction with UT 264 at the top of Fairview Canyon. Here, the Byway forks: the north route follows UT 264 east to Scofield, then north on UT 96 to UT 6 in Colton; the south route continues on UT 31 south to the end of the byway at Huntington. Time to Allow: 1.5 hours. Designation/Year: National Scenic Byway (2000).
