Sailiugem

a mountain range in the southeastern Altai, on the border of the Gorno-Altai Autonomous Oblast, RSFSR, and the Mongolian People’s Republic. It is 130 km long and rises to elevations of 3,500 m. It is a watershed between the sources of the Argut and Chuia rivers in the Ob’ River basin and the rivers of the Kobdo River basin. The range is composed of calcareous sandstones, clay shales, lavas, and tuffs. Lichen and rock tundras predominate in the high mountains. Sections of the southern slopes below 2,600 m have steppe vegetation on chestnut mountain soils.
