Tarkhankut Peninsula

the westernmost part of the Crimean Peninsula. The Tarkhankut Peninsula is bounded on the south by the Black Sea, and on the north by the Karkinitskii Bay. The undulating ridged surface rises to a maximum elevation of 179 m, at the Tarkhankut Upland, which is covered by steppe vegetation. The shores are for the most part precipitous, rising as much as 30 to 50 m. In coastal depressions there are salt lakes, such as Lake Donuzlav, which are separated from the sea by sandy bay barriers. Cape Tarkhankut lies off the southwestern end of the peninsula.
