Trudeau, Garry B. Trudeau, Garry B.(1948– ) cartoonist; born in New York City. While an undergraduate at Yale University, he created a comic strip, "Bull Tales," which later became Doonesbury, a comic strip characterized by its wry humor and satiric presentation of contemporary events. The strip became nationally syndicated and in 1975 it won Trudeau a Pulitzer Prize. Doonesbury was occasionally so controversial that papers refused to run certain installments. Trudeau took a "vacation" (1982–84) and then returned to syndication in September 1984. |
