A zone of space ranging from an arm’s length to 1.25 m, in which people operate under specific social situations.Types
• Close personal distance 50–80 cm: Unconsciously reserved for family members (e.g., husband and wife).
• Far personal distance 0.8–1.25m: The limit of physical domination; the far end of PD is for conversation and other social encounters, and close enough to allow privacy in encounters without being socially threatening to the participants.
