proliferative phase

The early/preovulation half of the menstrual cycle, which is initiated by a small peak in serum FSH and histologically characterised by short glands with increased mitotic activity.

proliferative phase

The part of the menstrual cycle between the end of menstruation and the next ovulation. During this stage the womb lining (endometrium) thickens and becomes suitable for implantation of the fertilized ovum.
