Per Share Basis

Per Share Basis

The expression of a quantitative value regarding a stock or mutual fund divided by the total number of shares outstanding. That is, a per share basis expresses certain facts on a security as it pertains to a single share. For example, the net asset value per share takes a publicly-traded company's total net asset value and divides it by the number of shares outstanding. This shows how much of the company's net asset value is represented in one share.
