Acronym for 1. Seasonal affective disorder syndrome in which the mood changes according to the season of the year and which is treated by exposure to bright light. 2. Sudden adult death syndrome: the sudden death of an apparently healthy adult, for which no cause can be found at postmortem examination. Coronary artery spasm is sometimes postulated.
