Sadr-I-Azam Sadr-I-Azam (Arabic, “supreme chief”), from the 16th century, the title of the highest official (prime minister, head of government) in the Ottoman Empire; equivalent to the title grand vizier. In Iran the title was used from the 19th century. The title sadr-i-azam was abolished in the 20th century. |
