Erani, Taqi
Born Sept. 5, 1902, in Tabriz; died Feb. 4, 1940, in Tehran. Iranian Marxist scholar. Figure of the Iranian Communist Party (ICP).
From 1922 to 1930, Erani studied and worked in Berlin, where he was active in a revolutionary circle of Iranian intellectuals. In 1930 he returned to his homeland and taught physics and chemistry. In 1934 he became an active member of the ICP. In 1934 and 1935 he published the journal Donya, which served as the official organ of the ICP. Arrested in 1937, he courageously withstood the court trial; he was killed in prison.
Erani wrote many scholarly works on Marxist-Leninist philosophy, the theory of science, and the fundamental problems of the exact sciences. He also edited scientific and critical works by medieval philosophers.
