Wang Ming

 

Ch’en Shao-yü. Born 1907. Figure in the Communist Party of China (CPC).

Wang Ming joined the CPC in 1925. In the summer of 1930 he participated in the struggle against the petit-bourgeois nationalist line of Li Lisan. In 1931 he became a member of the Central Committee and the Politburo of the Central Committee and was made secretary of the Central Committee of the CPC. The book that he wrote at the beginning of the 1930’s, Two Lines, in which he defended the proletarian, internationalist policies of the Party, greatly influenced the activity of the CPC. From 1932 to 1937, Wang Ming represented the CPC in the Comintern and was a member of the presidium of the Executive Committee of the Comintern (1932-43). During the war against the Japanese aggressors (1937-45), he headed the united front division of the Central Committee of the CPC and was secretary of the Ch’ang-chiang Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC. At the seventh (1945) and eighth (1956) congresses of the CPC, he was elected to be a member of the Central Committee of the CPC.
