an urban-type settlement in Konosha Raion, Arkhangel’sl Oblast, RSFSR, on the Voloshka River (tributary of the Onega), 9 km west of the Vandysh railroad station (on the Konosha-Arkhangel’sk line). Population, 5,900 (1968). There is a cellulose plant in the settlement.

(also Volozhka), a river in Arkhangel’sk Oblast, RSFSR; a right tributary of the Onega River. Length, 260 km; basin area, 7,100 sq km. The Voloshka is fed by snow and rain. Its average annual water discharge at the settlement of Toropovskaia is 71.7 cu m per sec. This river freezes over in the middle of November and opens up at the end of April. It has rapids but is suitable for floating logs.
