Special Features:During the war of 1812 Sackets Harbor was the center of American navaland military activity for the upper Saint Lawrence Valley and LakeOntario. A British-Canadian force attempted to destroy the Americanshipyard there in an 1813 battle. After the war, the fleet was placedin storage and the battlefield reverted to farmlands.
