Perkhuli
Perkhuli
a Georgian men’s folk round dance, with as many as 20 versions. In ancient times the perkhuli was performed together with the berikaoba show. One of the most popular forms is the multilevel perkhuli, in which some dancers stand on other dancers’ shoulders. Known as the orsartula or zemkrelo (derived from the word zemo, which means upper), this form is danced to music in 3/4 time. Another form of the perkhuli consists of slow and fast parts, with music in 4/4 time.
