Soddy Lithogenic Soils

soils that develop under the influence of the sod formation in taiga forests on soil-forming rocks rich in bases, where podzolization cannot develop. Typical features of these soils are the accumulation of humus (layers up to 30-40 cm thick), a neutral or weakly acidic reaction, and a more or less clearly defined biological accumulation of ash elements and alkaline-earth bases. Three subtypes may be distinguished: soddy saturated, soddy acidic, and podzolized soils.
