SOD3 SOD3 A gene on chromosome 4p15.3-p15.1 that encodes an extracellular superoxide dismutase which binds superoxide byproducts of oxidative phosphorylation, converting them to hydrogen peroxide and diatomic oxygen. SOD3 is thought to protect the brain, lungs and other tissues from oxidative stress. |
