STAT3
STAT3 A gene on chromosome 17q21.31 that encodes a member of the STAT family of transcription factors, which are phosphorylated by receptor-associated kinases in response to cytokines and growth factors, including IFNs, EGF, IL5, IL6, HGF, LIF and BMP2. The STAT3 protein product mediates expression of various genes in response to cell stimuli, and thus plays a key role in cell growth and apoptosis. GTPase Rac1 binds and upregulates STAT3; PIAS3 inhibits it.STAT3
