Vezire Nadr

 

(full name, Vezir’ Dzhabbarovich Nadirov). Born 1911 in the village of Kurdomar, Armenia; died October 1946. Soviet Kurdish writer.

Vezire Nadr was born into a shepherd’s family. In the play Abduction of a Woman (1935), he advocated the emancipation of the Kurdish woman. That same year a collection of his poetry and short stories, Nubar, was published in Yerevan. A participant in the Great Patriotic War, Vezire Nadr depicted the courage and fortitude of Soviet soldiers in the narrative poem Nado and G iulizar. He also taught in the department of Eastern studies at the University of Yerevan.
