Severnye Uvaly
Severnye Uvaly
the undulating and sometimes swampy divide between the Volga and Severnaia Dvina river basins, extending from the sources of the Kostroma in the west to the upper course of the Kama and Vychegda in the east. The divide is 600 km long and has elevations to 293 m. It is composed of glacial and fluvioglacial drifts, with outcrops of bedrock in higher regions. The divide is mostly covered with coniferous forests, which in places are extremely swampy.
