Aptekarskii Prikaz

(Pharmaceutical Department), the highest state medical administrative institution in Russia in the 16th and 17th centuries, in charge of all medical and pharmaceutical enterprises. In the period 1594–95, under Boris Godunov, it was re-formed from the Pharmaceutical Chamber established in 1581. In 1714 the Aptekarskii prikaz was renamed the Office of the Main Pharmacy, and later the Medical Office.
