Tyl I Snabzhenie Sovetskikh Vooruzhennykh Sil

(Rear Services and Supply of the Soviet Armed Forces), a monthly journal of the Ministry of Defense of the USSR. The journal was founded in October 1940 as Intendantskii zhurnal (Quartermaster’s Journal), and in November 1941 the title was changed to Tyl i snabzhenie Krasnoi Armii (Rear Services and Supply of the Red Army). The present title has been used since August 1946, except for the period from 1951 to 1960 (issue no. 8), during which the title Tyl i snabzhenie Sovetskoi Armii (Rear Services and Supply of the Soviet Army) was temporarily used.

The journal publishes materials regarding the decisions of the CPSU and the Soviet government on developing the country’s economy, increasing the standard of living of the Soviet people, and strengthening the state’s defense capabilities. It also covers the instruction and education of rear services personnel and the theory and practice of rear services troop support. The journal publicizes the efforts of commanders, political workers, service chiefs, and party and Komsomol organizations to improve army and navy rear service and supply management, to improve service conditions for personnel, and to administer the economical use of material and financial resources.
