Toyohashi was formerly an important castle town of the Matsudaira clan.Toyohashia city in Japan, on southern Honshu, in Aichi Prefecture. Situated at the mouth of the Toyo River, on Atsumi Bay. Population, 281,000 (1974). Toyohashi, a transportation junction, is a center for the silk industry, including cocoon reeling and the production of silk fabric.
