Tangyur

(Tibetan, literally, “elucidations”), a collection of Tibetan Buddhist canonical works, popular in Mongolia. It is made up of 225 volumes, consisting of a development and continuation of the Kagyur and a commentary to it. It includes the works of various persons and deals with linguistics, versification, rhetoric, medicine, and architecture. Among the works of literature included in it, two of the more interesting are the narrative poems Introduction to the Acts of the Bodhisattvas by Shantideva and Cloud Messenger by Kalidasa.
